William Eggleston

Tomorrow I am doing a presentation on William Eggleston. I have never heard of William Eggleston before I was assigned to do a presentation on him. But after reviewing his work I fell in love with his photographs. He is known as the first photographer that excelled in Art photography in color, he is considered a master of color. He is also a southern man, raised in Memphis, Tennessee. She shoots the majority of his work in Memphis and Mississippi. I love Eggleston's work because although he may be taking photos of something as simple as a Coca-Cola sign or gas station the colors look so fantastic. I also think he is successful in achieving the essence of the South during the late 60s and 70s. Though in my research their are no discussion of his feelings towards race in his photos you can tell that he is aware of the status of blacks in the South during this time. Eggleston is still alive and in a interview I read with him he still photographs, smokes, and drinks bourbon everyday with a serious southern drawl in his voice. Below are some photos by him that I love.
